McCready – Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
I had one of the greatest surprises happen to me in May 2004. I was on a Ladies’ Retreat with my church and it was there that I met Juliette. The group had just finished singing and I sat by myself at the front of the room, crying my eyes out. A pair of arms hugged me and a voice spoke through my tears asking how to help. Together we decided to leave the group to talk and walked to Juliette’s cabin. I sat in her “CHAIR”, and I laughed and cried with her. I told her of my MS and she was determined to help me with any discomfort I was feeling and offered a Reflexology session. WOW! I knew I had a very special new friend. I am always scared of new things, and I was scared of trying Reflexology, but it didn’t take Juliette long to rid me of my fear and make me feel at ease. She talked about everything she was doing, which reflex she was working, and how it would affect my body. She could even tell me where I was experiencing pain without me telling her. Getting Reflexology done by Juliette was a complete education. Being a teacher, I appreciated her commentary. This learning experience was exciting. I have never been comfortable with anyone touching my feet before, but Juliette’s touch is tender and soothing and definitely not ticklish. I didn’t mind the touch at all. It was unbelievable!! MS is a neurological disease. I have had MS for 14 years now. There is no cure for it yet. It affects each person differently, but for all, the nerve communication between the brain and the body is impeded. No two days are the same with MS. There are bad and good, and Juliette found ways to help me have good days more often!! AMEN With Juliette’s help and her healing touch, I am happy to say I’ve never felt better. I am so blessed to have her as my friend. Susanne McCready |
