Kimmel – Shoulder & wrist injuries
As a fairly open-minded person, I am a willing listener when it comes to hearing about different therapies for health and wellness. However, the skeptic in me would think, “It sounds good BUT does it WORK?” I’m also quite attached to my money; that being a factor in not exploring anything new. My thinking was, better to use “tried & true” therapies—whatever I’ve used that’s helped in the past—than spend money on something I was not sure about. Besides, when I hurt, it’s simpler to pop a pill, then get in my car and drive to an appointment. I’d heard a little about Reflexology and its benefits, thought it may be good for some people, but in my case, popping a pill was less effort and would at least help for a few hours. I happened to meet Juliette at a business course we were taking and she noticed I was favouring my right shoulder and wrist. I work with animals and have sustained some injuries. When I met Juliette, long hours at the computer had aggravated an old rotator cuff injury, my lower back, and chronic tendonitis in my wrist. It also happened to be the start of allergy season and I was troubled with daily sinus headaches – bad enough for my teeth to ache and I’ve been known to swell down to the cheekbones. Pain medicine took the edge off for a few hours and I thought that was the best I could get. Juliette spoke to me and told me about her Reflexology practice. I thought, “she sees me hurting and thinks I’m easy pickings” but it wasn’t like that at all. She told me what Reflexology could offer and left it at that. She showed considerable, in-depth knowledge; her approach was very polite and non-invasive. She also showed genuine concern. I was feeling quite sorry for myself so I decided that I would give an appointment some serious thought. Little did I know just how much it would help. Besides being incredibly professional and thorough - Juliette took all my personal information (although the birth-date question made me squirm a little!) - she was very intent on knowing everything and anything in my medical history in order to ensure my well-being. She immediately made me feel very comfortable. I also felt safe and secure. As she proceeded with the treatment, I was thinking this would really just be a fancy foot-rub. Instead, I was in for an eye-opening session. She would hit little spots on my feet that were sensitive, then write it down on a chart. When I asked what the chart meant, the sensitive spot exactly coincided with a physical discomfort in another area of the body. Even an injury that had happened years ago was found. To me, this was fascinating. A bit disarming also on how the body “remembers” even when you think something was fixed long ago. Feet are sensitive and Juliette has the perfect touch. Her grasp and pressure are exactly right. She is considerate and concerned; she listened and paid attention, always ensuring she was not applying too much pressure or making me uncomfortable. Anyone with sensitive feet would be in great hands (literally!) with her. After my session I put my shoes on and was delighted how my feet felt. I could’ve sworn I was walking on marshmallow pillows. I’m on my feet a lot and they constantly ache. Even foot rubs don’t take the ache away entirely, but the Reflexology did! I also became acutely aware of something I didn’t feel. My shoulder was better, my wrist was better, my back, which had been bothering me for 2 months, felt better. And…no sinus pain! That afternoon I realized I did not need to pop a pill for sinus pain and it was the first time in almost 4 weeks I didn’t need the pills. The daily “torment” from sinus pressure was nowhere to be found. Same thing the next day, and the next, and the next. It has now been 2 weeks since my treatment and still, no sinus pain. That, by itself, was enough for me to become a Reflexology convert. For anyone who is skeptical of Reflexology or hesitant to try something new, get over it and do something wonderful for yourself. We all deserve to feel good, healthy, and rid of those daily aches and pains. When you hurt, you feel captive and when you’re pain-free, the whole world opens up. Make an appointment with Juliette Harrison so you can open up your world. She will put you at ease, make you laugh, treat you with respect and compassion and, from the feet up, will make you feel sooooooo good! Thanks Juliette!!! In appreciation, |
